What a crock of shit

Here We Go Again

cheney booed baseball.jpg

The Washington Post is on cocktail weenie patrol again (per Americablog):

The first pitch of the Washington Nationals’ second season at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium was low and away, bouncing in the dirt before being scooped up by catcher Brian Schneider. For that, Vice President Cheney received a round of boos from the home crowd this afternoon.

Except (per Pach) if you look at the video at the Post’s own site (also at Crooks & Liars), you’ll hear quite clearly that the booing started when Cheney walked onto the field — it was not in response to a crap pitch. It was in response to his crap Vice Presidenting.

You know the drill:

We can keep this up as long as they can.

Update: Reuters (per angie):

The vice president, whose popularity is slumping along with that of President George W. Bush, walked out on the field to cheering and booing from the near-sellout crowd. The boos appeared to be little louder than the cheers at RFK Memorial Stadium.

They were probably at a different game.

Update II: Teddy says they’re not so crazy about hearing from us. Valley Girl finds another link to the author of the piece.

Update III: AP (per Steve J):

There were large patches of empty seats Tuesday when Vice President Dick Cheney emerged to mainly boos and scattered applause for the ceremonial first pitch.

Coming up: Howard Kurtz informs us the boos were actually for the wounded servicemen on the field and Cheney was quite bravely trying to distract the crowd.

It sounded like having Rudy Giuliani walk on the mound at Shea with a Yankee's jacket on during Dominican day. Cheney couldn't have been less popular if he had kicked the crutch from one of the wounded vets and spit on him.

That crowd booed loud and long and did nothing else. No cheers. None.
