Just try it......please

They don't just give them

From our friends at Nitpicker:

Ann Coulter is trying to besmirch John Murtha.

A few quick facts: Murtha left college in 1952 and served in Korea. As a private.

He was later promoted and allowed to become a drill instructor. Only the best Marines become DI's. Then after serving on Parris Island in the days when you better be ready to beat the shit out of anyone who even looked at you hard, as my father would attest to, he was sent to basic school at Quantico and given a commission. They call those officers Mustangs, and it's a rare honor, especially in peacetime.

And while Dick Cheney was hiding from the draft and George Bush avoiding Vietnam, Murtha left his family and returned to active duty. While people were joining the reserves to avoid Vietnam, the Korean War vet Murtha went back.

During his 37 years in the Corps, he reached the rank of full colonel and won the DSM, Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts.

If Ann Coulter wants to see Murtha's awards, she can just ask the Department of the Navy, they're public records.

But if she wants to attack his service, well, it's a funny thing about Marines, they take their service as a source of pride, even if they were indifferent while in the service. I don't think that she'll understand the response her attacks will get. Just like Jean Schmidt was lucky to win her seat after all those old Marines, Republicans, voted for Paul Hackett.

Funny story, when my friend was training as an artillery officer at Ft. Sill, there were a group of Marines who want to celebrate the Corps birthday, November 10. My friend's father had also been a Marine, but he wanted to tease them. He was a 1st Lieutenant, thus outranking them.

He said "you guys want time off for a party?"

Well, if he had offered to sell their mothers to white slavers they couldn't have reacted any worse.

They were like "Sir, sir, this is NOT a Party. This is the Marine Corps Birthday"

I think Marines take the Corps and it's traditions and honors seriously, long after active duty. Jack Murtha has made thousands of friends over the years, helping families with VA issues, DOD issues and just seeing their kids after being wounded and in Iraq. I think attacking him and his service is well....suicidal.

You stupid, stupid bitch

Yeah, we saw this bullshit coming.

I've never heard a single liberal preface attacks on Oliver North with a recitation of North's magnificent service as a Marine. And unlike Murtha, who refuses to release his medical records showing he was entitled to his two Purple Hearts, we know what North did. (These Democrat military veterans are hardly shrinking violets when it comes to citing their medals, but they get awfully squeamish when pressed for details.)
We also know what Rep. Randy Cunningham, R-Calif., did to earn his medals. One of only two American Navy aces that the Vietnam War produced, Cunningham shot down five MiGs, three in one day, including a North Vietnamese pilot with 13 American kills. Cunningham never did something as insane as proposing that we withdraw troops in the middle of a war, but this week he did admit to taking bribes.

And yet, no Democrat breathed a word of Cunningham's unquestioned heroism before rushing to denounce him as "the latest example of the culture of corruption" – in the words of Rep. Nancy Pelosi.

Cunningham and North both committed crimes you greasy-haired fucking bone sack. (North was, if you take anything he says at face value, actually a fucking traitor.) Not only did they commit them, but those crimes were, in their own respective ways, directly connected to their service. They tainted not only their own pasts by their actions, but the military service in total. Yes, I give you that they acted heroically at one time, but their slides into disrepute beg the question "What went wrong?"

All Murtha did was disagree with the President and agree with about 2/3 of the American public and an even larger percent of the Iraqi people. That's not a violation of law, fucktard. Not yet, anyway.

Finally, it's not up to you to decide who's "entitled" to Purple Hearts. That's the job of the commanders of the soldier, sailor, airman or Marine involved. I don't know why people let those Swift Boat fuckers get away with smearing John Kerry, but I said when I got back from Afghanistan that the simple response should have been "I BELIEVE THE NAVY!" You may be so dank and broken inside that you really don't believe military leadership when they award medals or say things like "we're going to need more troops," but, again, I believe the Marine Corps, you nasty, horse-faced hatrack of a woman.

Give it a shot. Just try to go after Murtha. He's one tough sonofabitch. He's not going to ignore this bullshit and hope it goes away like Kerry did. He's going to point out that your boys were setting at home on their asses when he went back in the service at the age of 34 and went to war. He's got the experience, he's got a real plan and he makes your pals look like the limpdicked chickenhawks they are. So go ahead. Bring it fucking on.

Well, Ann, you want to know why? Because Duke Cunningham was a pig. He was a great fighter pilot, but he was a major leader at Tailhook's antics and was well known for his lack of personal ethics long before he took a bribe. Other aviators were sick of his skirt chasing and boozing years ago.

As far as North, if Al Gray could have courtmartialed him, he would have. North was regarded as a liar and a loon from his days at the Naval Academy. Ask James Webb about what a scumbag he was. Webb detested him. The fact was that North went nuts in 1974 and then was shunted away from command.

He then lied about getting a "secret" Silver Star, which doesn't exist.

North and Cunningham had many detractors within their own peer group. Their characters were suspect despite their bravery under fire. No one has questioned Murtha's character in the same way.
