Calm Down
Look, the big cities have not come in yet in most states. Remember how desperately Bush has been begging for Democratic votes? Think he got them.
Everyone is nervous. I am, you are. After more than a year of writing about this campaign, I'm nervous as hell thinking that Bush could squeak in. But there is no evidence about which to worry. The votes which haven't come in are Democratic votes from Democratic counties and people are still voting.
A campaign is a risky venture because you have no idea how it ends. As I have said before, if Bush does not win Ohio, he will lose. Even more than Florida.
Keep this in mind: in 2000 Bush led all the polls, but Gore closed the gap at the end. Why? Because Bush didn't close the sale. He squandered his lead. Even with good performances in the debates and a reasonable platform.
If you saw Bush tonight, did he look confident and assured? No.The fact that Bush invited reporters up is a mind trick. They knew the numbers were against them.
Maybe Bush squeaked it out, maybe he pulled it off, but it is unlikely. Why? Because if he had, we would have seen something, some sign, not Dick Cheney in Hawaii and Bush trying to win Minnesota.
Bush has won most of the states he's going to win.
But stop with the chicken little shit. If there's reason to worry, you'll know it, and that's if Bush takes Ohio. If he doesn't do that, go have sex or something. Relax.
The only thing your fear is doing is raising your blood pressure. Tommorow's gonna come regardless. And we've survived four years of Bush. We can, if we have to, survive four more. But, I don't think we'll have to.
As a Mets fan, I've come to understand that there is a time you just have to believe. When your back is to the wall and you just have to have faith. We're not even close to prayer, just the waiting. And the waiting can be pure torture.
Remember one thing: no matter what happens, you did the right thing as a citizen. Not only in voting, but participating. You took a stand, and no matter whether we were right or wrong, we did our best as citizens.
Now, please, calm down, Please.
